Purpose:

The provision of Healthcare in Custody and Liaison and Diversion in GMP custody suites is currently provided by Mitie to GMP. The contract, including a 9-month extension, will finish at the end of October 2022.

The management of the existing contract is shared jointly between PCC and Health budgets and the post is currently part of the NHS (HSCP) establishment.

The existing postholder is due for the provision of the contract management function will leave the post in My 2022 and there is an urgent need to bring in capacity to undertake the function of the recommissioning of the Healthcare in Custody contract and ongoing contract management following contract award.

It has been agreed that due to the nature of the business this function will become part of the GMP establishment and funds will be passed to GMP to allow this permanent post to be established within GMP structures.

Due to the nature of the business of the contract, it has been agreed that GMP will undertake this appointment and contract management responsibility.

The new contract will not include Liaison and Diversion and Health colleagues will continue to provide this service through a separate contract and contract management arrangement.

Decision:

Up to a maximum of £48, 189 be passed to GMP for the immediate provision of capacity to undertake the function of commissioning and contracts management for the recommissioning and ongoing management of a new contract for custody healthcare to come into effect from 1st November 2022.
