Decision details

Greater Manchester Multiply Scheme – Multiply for Care Leavers (#2)

Decision Maker: Treasurer GMCA

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

This opportunity has been ring-fenced to the 10x Local Authorities. Local Authorities were given allocations based on:
1. Funding allocated within the GM Multiply Scheme investment plan
2. This was shared based on % of care leavers in GM within each borough.

Authorities were invited to submit an Expression of Interest to deliver this tailored and targeted support to detail:
1. Linked to the mini-specification, how they would deliver Part A
2. Linked to the mini-specification, how they would deliver Part B
3. Costings, broken down by financial year and by the 2 parts

3x Authorities have submitted an EOI so far and all of these EOIs following assessment and any necessary follow-ups/negotiations have been approved.

Decision:

Multiply is a UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) funded national programme, commissioned and delivered locally, to support adults who do not have GCSE/Level 2 maths or equivalent to gain skills in Maths/Numeracy.

A key aim of the GM Multiply Scheme is to offer tailored support to care experienced residents across Greater Manchester. The activity should boost residents confidence with numbers, and provide an initial opportunity to access maths/numeracy skills provision.

Following an Expression of Interest process, the Grant award has been approved to the following Authorities

Authority / FY23/24 / FY24/25 / TOTAL
Bolton Council £24,380.00 £31,800.00 £56,180.00
Stockport Council £21,333.00 £27,825.00 £49,158.00
Trafford Council £21,333.00 £27,825.00 £49,158.00

Local Authorities were invited to submit Expressions of Interest linked to a mini specification to offer this support directly to their care experienced residents, following a range of consultation and engagement activities.
