PCC - Domestic servitude training in partnership with NESTAC
Decision Maker: Director for Police, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
In 2021, Nestac supported the modern slavery
coordination unit in Programme Challenger to work with community
members they worked with to raise awareness of domestic servitude.
Through the work, it emerged that there was a significant crossover
in these community members between experiences of domestic
servitude and experiences of domestic abuse. As a result, this
training was developed, in partnership with UCLAN, to raise
awareness of this amongst agencies and organisations that worked
with women about the issues identified.
This will be delivered as part of a national focus period on Modern
Slavery at the start of November 2022.
Decision:
£684 plus VAT be provided to University
of Central Lancashire to deliver, in partnership with Nestac, two
‘It’s not culture, it’s crime: Understanding
domestic servitude and gender based abuse’ training session
to relevant partners across Greater Manchester.
