Purpose:

- A statutory body is required to act as the Provider for this service, with prior understanding of the GM pregnancy to 2 mental health pathways. Comprehensive engagement has taken place with NHS mental health providers and Local Authorities in GM to secure support for Stockport MBC as the proposed provider.
- Funding is available through non-recurrent monies from the GMCA School Readiness programme. Use of funding for this purpose has been endorsed by the School Readiness Programme Board and the ICB CYP Mental Health Programme Board.
- The decision to fund responds to an unmet need in service provision and recognises the critical importance of positive parent-child relationships to early child development and addressing health inequalities in the early years in GM.
- The project has been included as deliverable within the Integrated Care Partnership Joint Forward Plan under Theme 1: Early Years within the Best Start for Life priority.


Decision:

Stockport MBC be awarded £520,000 funding from GMCA School Readiness programme to lead design and delivery of a GM parent-toddler mental health hub for 2-5 year olds.

Alternative options considered:

The award of funding of funding to Stockport MBC has been assessed as the only viable delivery model for this project and this has been endorsed by the GMCA School Readiness Programme Governance and the ICB CYP Mental Health Governance.
