Vehicle crime continues to be a concern for
communities and GMP has been meeting with partners to review the
issue and take positive action.
Following similar initiatives across the UK with other police force
areas, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and GMP are looking to enter a
partnership to create Operation Solihull - aimed at tackling theft
of motor vehicles, chop shops, and handling stolen goods (vehicle
parts).
The operation will also aim to increase the intelligence GMP has on
vehicle crime and Organised Crime Group activity in this
area.
The Operation will target crime to all vehicles, but will utilise
the technical knowledge and capabilities of JLR in the training of
officers and response to crimes.
The proposed partnership has support from GMP Chief Officers and
the Strategic Lead for Vehicle Crime.
